The game comes to an end/is won when you form three different colored property sets. It implies there is only one winner. On each property card, you will know how many cards of that color are required to complete the set. For example, a brown property set needs two brown property cards to be completed, the black railroad set needs 4 railroad property cards to be completed.
Therefore, with this knowledge it becomes easier to understand the meaning of the objective of the game. The objective of this game is to emerge the first player to complete three full property sets in front of you. As regards payment, one may pay any combination of cash or properties or both on your desk at the discretion of the paying player. This excludes the multicolored cards. There is no change given. It is required that you pay from your hand, but if there happens to be nothing on your desk, then you need not pay. Since the multicolored cards are of no value, then they cannot be used to pay. Therefore, in instances where one has only multicolored cards left, one needs not pay.
Variants of the game
There are ways to make the game more interesting, for example, by having a second deck. You can double the number of rent cards by putting more rent cards from another deck but not double the rent cards. The other strategy is to increase the Just say no cards from 3 to 5. These ‘Just say no’ cards can now take up a turn when they are used on your turn. It helps decrease the power of Deal breakers and gives you the chance to use the cards on other plays which will help you win.
Also, you can make flipping of wild cards and switches to other properties take a turn each. It makes the game harder to win because much more strategy is required. Lastly, you can change the conditions that are required in order to win, such as $30M in the bank or 5 property sets.
